Police arrest teen after pursuit, South Australia

Police have arrested a teenager after a short pursuit in a stolen car through the western suburbs early this morning.

At 2.55am on Tuesday 31 March, Western District Patrols were called to a West Beach address following a call from the resident advising her Mazda CX9 had been stolen from the garage.

Patrols quickly converged on the area and set up cordons. Police spotted the stolen car a short time later on Tapleys Hill Road at Adelaide Airport and attempted to stop the vehicle however the driver refused and continued driving south.

The stolen Mazda was pursued to Adelphi Terrace at Glenelg North where the car came to a stop and the driver and single occupant ran from the vehicle.

Following a foot pursuit the driver was arrested a short distance away. The 15 year-old boy from the Barossa Valley, was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use, drive dangerously to escape police pursuit, driving unlicenced and carry offensive weapon. He was granted bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Youth Court on 30 April.

The Mazda CX9 was returned undamaged to the owner at 3.20am.
