Police arrest teen for social media post

A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly posted a picture of a firearm on social media yesterday.

On Thursday 23 February police received a report regarding the dissemination of a social media post with a picture of a firearm.

Following an investigation, today Friday 24 February, police from Northern District Criminal Investigation Branch attended at a Northern Suburbs school and spoke to the alleged author of the social media post.

The image was identified as a copy of an original social media image posted on Wednesday 22 February.

A 14-year-old boy from Fairview Park was arrested and has been charged with creating a false belief. He has been bailed to attend at the Elizabeth Youth Court on 31 March.
