Police arrest teens after pursuit in stolen car, South Australia

Two teenagers have been arrested after they allegedly stole a car at knife point in North Haven last night.

Just after 7pm on Tuesday 26 April, a victim had his Mitsubishi Lancer sedan stolen after teenagers approached him on Osborne Street at North Haven. One offender produced a knife and demanded the keys to his car. The car was last seen heading west on Osborne Road.

About 11.30pm the same date, Western District patrols spotted the stolen car travelling north on Morphett Road at Novar Gardens. The vehicle was followed as it turned east onto Anzac Highway, south onto Morphett Road, then onto Oaklands Road and south onto Marion Road. The stolen car was tracked through Edwardstown and successfully spiked on Raglan Avenue. The car continued driving as it lost two tyres.

STAR group officers took over the pursuit and followed the vehicle on South Road for a short time before the driver stopped the car near the intersection of Adam Street at Torrensville. The driver attempted to run however he was stopped a short distance away and arrested.

The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Mile End was charged with aggravated robbery, illegal use and dangerous driving to escape a police pursuit. The passenger, a 15-year-old boy from Ottoway, was charged with aggravated robbery and illegal use. They were both refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court today (Wednesday 27 April).
