Police arrest three in Springvale

Police responded to a suspicious loiter report in a laneway on Russell Street just before 8am.

Upon closer inspection, officers found an allegedly stolen gold Honda civic with false plates and three men in the car using drugs.

Parked next to the Honda in the laneway was a white BMW sedan.

Police searched the Honda and occupants, locating a quantity of alleged heroin and methamphetamine on the driver.

The passenger of the Honda was also allegedly found to be in possession of heroin.

During the search of the BMW, an unloaded sawn-off single-barrel shot gun was found in a badminton case in the boot.

The trio were arrested at the scene.

A 42-year-old Springvale man has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, theft of a motor vehicle and using false plates and remanded in custody.

A 43-year-old Springvale South man has been charged with possession of heroin and remanded in custody.

A 37-year-old Cranbourne East man has been charged with being a prohibited person possessing a firearm.

He will appear before Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 17 August.
