Three men will face court on drug trafficking charges after they were allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.
Just before 5pm on Wednesday 20 May, Detectives from the Serious and Organised Crime Branch stopped a car containing three men on Rickaby Street, Croydon Park, allegedly a large commercial quantity of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
Detectives from Northern District and Serious and Organised Crime Branch then searched four properties in the northern and western suburbs.
As a result of the searches, police allegedly seized approximately 1kg of methamphetamine, 19kg of cannabis and 60 grams of ecstasy which equates to nearly 16,400 street deals of controlled drugs.
Police also uncovered three replica firearms and over $5,000 cash.
A 25-year-old man from Mansfield Park was arrested and charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.
A 52-year-old man from Parafield Gardens was arrested and charged with trafficking a large commercial quantity of cannabis.
And a 23-year-old man from Pooraka was arrested and charged with two counts of trafficking large commercial quantities of controlled drugs.
The Pooraka man was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today while the two men will appear on the 30 June and 7 July .
Police inquiries are continuing on the replica firearms that were seized with further charges possible.
Acting Detective Inspector Jon Halliday said, “This significant siezure serves to demonstrate that police will continue to pursue those responsible for trafficking harmful drugs. It is well documented that illicit drugs, particularly methylamphetamine as having a devastating effect on our community. 1 kg of methylamphetamine alone equates to about 10,000 street deals that otherwise would have been sold for profit contributing to this harm. Penalties for trafficking illicit drugs can be substantial with maximum penalties including life imprisonment.”
