Police arrest two after food delivery car stolen in Chatswood

Two people have been arrested in Sydney’s south west after a food delivery car was allegedly stolen at Chatswood overnight.

Police have been told a 30-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were conducting food deliveries when they parked a Toyota Corolla on Albert Street, near Thomas lane, about 12.15am (Monday 27 July 2020).

When the man left the vehicle to attend a delivery address, an unknown man entered the car.

The woman who was seated in the passenger seat was told to exit, before he drove from the scene.

Officers attached to North Shore Police Area Command attended and commenced inquiries.

Just before 5am, police from Liverpool City Police Area Command noticed the stolen Toyota and stopped it on Lyn Parade, Cartwright.

The passenger, a 20-year-old woman, was arrested in the vehicle which has been seized for forensic examination.

The driver fled on foot and a search of the surrounding area commenced.

With assistance from the Dog Unit, a 20-year-old man was arrested about 5.15am.

They have both been taken to Liverpool Police Station.

Inquiries are continuing.
