Police arrest two at Birkenhead, South Australia

Two men have been arrested after they were seen entering a rear yard of a home at Birkenhead this morning.

Just after 10am on Saturday 17 August, a resident on Fletcher Road called police after seeing a man jump the fence from her backyard into a neighbours property.

Police patrols converged on the area spotting two men jumping fences in nearby Hughes Street.

One man was detained after he climbed onto the roof of a house, the second man couldn’t be found so a police dog patrol were called in to assist in the search.

Police dog Marley went to work, quickly locating the second suspect at a nearby property after he had jumped several fences.

A 24-year-old man from Taperoo has been charged with being unlawfully on premises and property damage, while the second detained, a 35-year-old man from Devon Park has been charged being unlawfully on premises, property damage and breaching his bail conditions.

They are both expected to be refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday.
