Police arrest two men after lengthy pursuit across Adelaide, South Australia

A pair of men will appear in court after stealing a car and being pursued across Adelaide overnight.

Shortly after 11.30pm last night (Tuesday 12 July), police were called to a house in Rectory Walk at Springfield, after suspects had broken into the premises and stolen car keys belonging to a Black BMW sedan, before driving away in the vehicle.

Numerous patrols flooded the area to search for the vehicle.

Shortly after 12.30am, a patrol located the vehicle travelling south on South Road at Clovelly Park. Patrols kept observations of the BMW until Polair was able to move overhead and track the vehicle.

The vehicle travelled through multiple metropolitan suburbs across all four policing districts for almost an hour and a half, with patrols spiking it on multiple occasions. The vehicle was abandoned by the driver and its passenger on Goodwood Road, Millswood after it lost a tyre.

The two suspects ran from the vehicle, however Polair directed patrols in and the pair was quickly arrested in the front yard of a premise on Arundel Avenue.

The driver, a 22-year-old man from Grange has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, drive dangerous to escape pursuit and drive unlicensed.

The passenger, a 21-year-old man from Parafield Gardens has been charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft, carry offensive weapon, possess article to commit offence and breach of bail.

Neither man applied for bail and will attend Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
