Police arrest two men after mail drug seizure

Detectives from Joint Task Force Icarus arrested two men yesterday as part of an investigation into the illegal trafficking of prescription drugs via the domestic mail.

Police executed a search warrant about 9.30am at a Normdale Road, Bentleigh East residence and allegedly located a traffickable quantity of methylamphetamine, MDMA and cannabis.

A 30-year-old Bentleigh East man was arrested by detectives at the scene and he has been charged with trafficking MDMA and cocaine related offences.

It is expected he will receive further charges in relation to importation of a marketable quantity of both MDMA and cocaine.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 27 November.

A second 38-year-old Bentleigh East man was also arrested and charged with possessing methylamphetamine.

He was bailed to appear at the Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court on 12 December.

The investigation remains ongoing.
