Police arrest two men in CBD with drugs, ammunition and

Police arrested two men in CBD this morning after they were intercepted and found with drugs, a weapon and cash.

A 19-year-old Richmond man and his 23-year-old passenger from Truganina were seen driving erratically in Latrobe Street about 9.55am, before being intercepted by officers from the Public Order Response Unit.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and it is alleged the pair were locate drugs including heroin, ammunition, cash believed to be the proceeds of crime and a knife.

They are currently in custody assisting police with their enquiries and are expected to be charged and remanded to appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.

Whilst committing the alleged offences, the men were also found to be in breach of the directions issued by the Chief Health Officer and were issued a $1652 penalty notice.

The directions by the Chief Health Officer, under the State of Emergency declared in Victoria, have been enacted to help stop the spread of Coronavirus.

The investigation remains ongoing.
