Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following an alleged car-jacking in Melbourne this morning (17 August).
It is understood the victim, a 28-year-old Meadow Heights man was stationary in his 2013 white Chrysler sedan on Lonsdale Street near the intersection of King Street when the man approached him and threatened him with a knife.
The victim got out of his vehicle and the alleged offender drove off in the victim’s vehicle towards Lonsdale Street about 12.20am.
It is alleged the vehicle was then sighted travelling erratically on Beaconsfield Parade by police about 12.29am.
A short pursuit was initiated but it was terminated by police due to safety reasons.
The vehicle was monitored and the Chrysler was sighted again by police after reports of an alleged attempted car-jacking in Seaford about 1.00am.
The victim, a 30-year-old Seaford man was not physically injured.
The 28-year-old Melbourne man was subsequently arrested by police in Frankston just before 2am.
He has been charged with car-jacking, armed robbery, attempted car-jacking, attempted armed robbery, conduct endangering life and numerous traffic offences.
The man will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.
