Police charge man after approached two teens in Glebe

A man will face court after he allegedly approached two teen girls at Glebe earlier this week.

About midday on Tuesday 1 September 2020, two girls – aged 16 and 17 – were walking down a laneway between Taylor Street and Burton Street when they noticed a male standing next to a van.

It is alleged the man tried to engage in a conversation with them and when they ignored him, he began to walk closely behind them.

It is further alleged the man made offensive gestures towards the girls before leaving in his car.

The teens reported the incident to police and an investigation commenced by Leichhardt Detectives.

About 7.50pm yesterday (Wednesday 2 September 2020) police arrested a 28-year-old man on the Great Western Highway, Pendle Hill.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with carry out sexual act towards anther without consent, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm (personal), and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 25 September 2020.
