Police charge man after armed robbery at Hillside

Police are investigating after an alleged armed robbery in Hillside on Saturday, 11 December.

Police have been told that two men entered a convenience store on Antionetta Way about 4.30pm.

It is alleged that one of the offenders produced a firearm before stealing cash and cigarettes.

The men fled in a blue Ford and no one was injured.

It is also alleged that the same people were involved in an earlier armed robbery and a petrol drive-off in the Laverton area.

A 24-year-old Laverton man has since been arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery, three counts of unlicensed driving and one count of theft.

He has been remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

The second offender is yet to be identified.
