Police charge man after Bell Park non-fatal shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have arrested and charged a man following a non-fatal shooting in Bell Park last Sunday.

Special Operations Group officers assisted detectives in executing a search warrant at a Britannia Street, Geelong West address about 2.45pm this afternoon.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the address and subsequently interviewed by detectives.

The Geelong West man has since been charged with aggravated burglary, intentionally cause serious injury (gross violence), attempted aggravated carjacking, prohibited person possess firearm and theft.

He was remanded to appear before Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 20 December.

A 28-year-old Geelong man was also arrested and charged with Possess DOD and has been bailed to appear at the Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 14 April 2022.

The charges follow an incident outside a Carissa Mews property where a 40-year-old Bell Park man was shot in the upper and lower body about 4.50pm on 12 December.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition and remains undergoing treatment.

A third man was arrested at the address today and released without charge.
