Banyule Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following several fires in Bundoora earlier this week.
It is alleged that the man lit six fires in the vicinity of Yulong Reserve in the early hours of 25 March.
The alleged fires caused substantial damage to the fences and backyards of several residential properties which back on to the reserve. Additional alleged fires caused damage to a local sporting club.
A 59-year-old Bundoora man has been charged with multiple counts of arson.
He has been bailed to appear before Heidelberg Magistrates’ Court on 11 September.
