A man has been charged following a fatal crash in the state’s Riverina.
About 2.30pm on Sunday 20 September 2026, emergency services were called to a recreation reserve on Osbourne Yerong Creek Road, Osbourne, about 70km west of Wagga Wagga, after reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Riverina Police District were told a man sustained serious injuries after being towed by a quad bike and striking a goal post.
Bystanders rendered aid to the man aged in 20s before the arrival of emergency services; however, he died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The driver of the quad bike – a 20-year-old man – was arrested and taken for mandatory testing before being and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous and negligent driving (occasioning death).
He was given conditional bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 23 September 2026.
