Police charge man after Fitzroy aggravated burglary

Melbourne Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man after an alleged aggravated burglary in Fitzroy last night.

The 21-year-old was charged with:

• two counts of aggravated burglary

• attempted armed robbery

• theft

• attempted theft of motor vehicle

• possess drug of dependence (methylamphetamine)

• possess prohibited weapon (knuckledusters)

• state false name to police

• breach conduct condition of bail (curfew)

• six counts of commit indictable offence whilst on bail.

The Windsor man will appear before Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today for a filing hearing.

The charges follow an incident at a Brunswick Street address about 11.10pm on Thursday, 24 February.

Police will allege a male occupant was woken by a man, armed with knuckle dusters, who demanded cash and valuables.

The occupants fled the home and notified police who arrested the man at the scene.
