Police charge man after investigation into break and enters in Greenacre

A man has been charged following an investigation into a string of break and enters in Sydney’s south west earlier this month.

Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command commenced an investigation after reports of three separate break and enters at homes in Lidcombe and Belfield between 7:30am and 5:30pm on Tuesday 13 October 2020.

Witnesses reported a silver Volkswagen Golf was seen leaving the incidents. The Volkswagen was seized following a pursuit with police at Yagoona on Wednesday 14 October 2020. An 18-year-old man was charged with weapon offences at the time and remains before the courts.

Following extensive inquiries, the Auburn Proactive Crime team, with assistance from South West Metropolitan Operations Support Group (OSG), executed a search warrant at a home in Greenacre, at 7am yesterday (Wednesday 28 October 2020).

A 20-year-old man was arrested, and a search of the house located a number of clothing items, jewellery, shoes and sunglasses, suspected of being stolen.

Police also seized 33g of cocaine, allegedly found concealed in a safe.

The man was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with two counts aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal, aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal, and owner not disclose identity of driver/passenger.

Police will allege in court that the man is the owner of the Volkswagen.

He was refused bail to appear in Burwood Local Court today (Thursday 29 October 2020).
