Police charge man after obscene acts

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad (CAS) have charged a man with eight offences as a result of their investigation into several reported incidents of a person exposing himself and committing obscene acts in public.

It will be alleged the incidents occurred between March and August 2023 in department stores at shopping centres located in Armadale, Booragoon, Cannington, Spearwood and Success, where the man either exposed himself or committed obscene acts in front of members of the public, and on several occasions this was in front of teenage girls.

On 15 August 2023 CAS detectives stopped the man driving his vehicle in Maddington. It will be alleged during a search of his vehicle, cannabis was located.

The 33-year-old man from Beckenham has been charged with:-

• 3 counts of Obscene Acts in Public;

• 2 counts of Indecent Dealings with a Child under 13 years;

• 1 count of Indecent Acts in Public;

• 1 counts of Common Assault; and

• 1 count of Possess a Prohibited Drug (Cannabis).

He is due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 16 August 2023.
