Police charge man after parking ranger assaulted in Rocks

A man will face court after a parking ranger was assaulted in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.

About 10am (Tuesday 18 August 2020), a woman was carrying out her duties as a council ranger, when she was allegedly hit by a car door on Argyle Street, The Rocks.

Police will allege, the 53-year-old woman approached a parked car to mark its tyre when the male driver – aged 34 – intentionally opened the door onto the ranger – striking her in the head.

The man then allegedly got out of the car, hit her hand and verbally abused her.

The woman was uninjured during the alleged assault.

About 1.50pm that day (Tuesday 18 August 2020), the man was arrested at a work site in Drummoyne and was taken to Day Street Police Station where he was charged with common assault.

He will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday 9 September 2020.
