Police charge man after police operation in Gladesville

A man has been charged with attempted murder following a police operation in Gladesville today.

About 11.20am today (Tuesday 2 November 2021) police attended a unit at Punt Road, Gladesville, following reports of a domestic-violence incident.

When officers arrived, a 38-year-old man — armed with two knives — allegedly attacked a 26-year-old male probationary constable.

The injured officer – attached to Ryde Police Area Command – suffered lacerations to the back of his head and a dislocated shoulder.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated and released.

Officers attached to Ryde Police Area Command attended and, with the assistance of the Tactical Operations Unit, Police Negotiators and other specialist commands, arrested a 38-year-old man without incident a short time later.

He was taken to Ryde Police Station where he has been charged with cause wounding (grievous bodily harm) to person with intent to murder, two counts of armed with intent to commit indictable offence, two counts of common assault, and breach of an apprehended domestic violence order.

He was refused bail to appear at Hornsby Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 3 November 2021).
