Police charge man after pursuit in Narwee

A man has been charged and a knife seized following a pursuit in Sydney’s south-west.

About 2.55pm yesterday (Tuesday 3 November 2020), detectives attached to Campsie Police Area Command were on patrol when they observed a white Holden Commodore driving erratically on Graham Road, Narwee.

Officers later spotted the Holden in Shorter Avenue, Roselands, and attempted to pull the car over. As police approached the vehicle, it’s alleged the driver accelerated.

Detectives began following the Holden before terminating the pursuit due to safety concerns.

A short time later, officers – with assistance from PolAir – located the car at a service station on Stockton Avenue, Moorebank.

As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the male driver, reversed the Holden away from the bowser, hitting a metal pole before colliding with a police car.

The driver, aged 25, was arrested and taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, destroy or damage property, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention, carry cutting weapon upon apprehension, possess identity info to commit indictable offence.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located a knife and drug paraphernalia.

The items were seized for forensic examination.

The Beverly Hills man was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today (Wednesday 4 November 2020).
