Police Charge Man After Serious Crash – Central Coast

A man will face court next month following a crash in a car park at a Central Coast beach.

About 3.40pm on Tuesday 23 June 2026, emergency services were called to Soldiers Beach Car Park at Norah Head following reports of a crash.

At the scene, police were told a Toyota Corolla had reversed out of a parking space at speed before colliding with a utility.

The Corolla was then allegedly driven forward at speed, colliding with a parked vehicle that struck a pedestrian, throwing her several metres.

The pedestrian – a 76-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for the treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the Corolla – a 95-year-old man – was not injured; however, was taken to Wyong Hospital for mandatory testing.

The driver of the utility – a 66-year-old man – was not injured.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation commenced by Tuggerah Lakes Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit (CIU).

Following extensive inquiries, about 11.50am on Saturday 15 August 2026, CIU officers attended a home in Bateau Bay, where a 95-year-old man was issued a Court Attendance Notice charged with five offences,

  • Dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous
  • Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of motor vehicle
  • Negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm)
  • Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm), and
  • Unlicensed for Class, Class C, R, LR or MR.

He is due to appear before Wyong Local Court on Monday 28 September 2026.
