Homicide Squad detectives have charged a man following an alleged stabbing in Campbellfield yesterday.
Police have been told a verbal altercation occurred between two men on Scammel Street about 1.30pm.
It is alleged the incident escalated into a physical altercation and one of the men was stabbed.
A 55-year-old Campbellfield man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.
A 57-year-old Campbellfield man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of murder.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court later today.
