Police charge man after stabbing in Port Macquarie

A man has been charged following a stabbing in Port Macquarie at the weekend.

About 2.40am yesterday (Sunday 19 November 2023), emergency services were called to a home on The Halyard, Port Macquarie, following reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Police District arrived to find a 21-year-old man with serious injuries to his lower body.

He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital. He was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

Following inquires, police arrested a 22-year-old man at Port Macquarie Police Station about 8.45am the same day.

He was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court today (Monday 20 November 2023).
