Police Charge Man Over Child Sex Offence – SF Owyarigo

A man will face court for child sex offences in Sydney’s Inner West.

In October 2022, officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command established Strike Force Owyarigo to commence an investigation into an alleged child sex offence in Marrickville area.

It was alleged that a 14-year-old girl was sexually abused by an adult man – known to her – between 2019 and 2021.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 26-year-old man in Newtown, about 10am on Thursday (22 February 2024).

He was charged with following offences:

  • Seven counts intentionally sexually touch child older than or equal to 10 years and younger than 16 years
  • Seven counts of have sexual intercourse with child older than or equal to 14 and younger than 16 years
  • Four counts of sexual intercourse with person under care older than or equal to 16 and younger than 17 years
  • Two counts of sexual touch person older than or equal to 16 and younger than 17 years under special care

He was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court tomorrow (Friday 23 February 2024).
