Police charge man over road rage incident at Fairfield

Following an appeal for public assistance over a road rage incident a man has been charged in relation to the matter.

About 10pm on Thursday (4 January 2024), emergency services were called to the intersection of the Cumberland Highway and Hamilton Road, Fairfield West, following reports a man was found seriously injured on the roadway.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and found a 34-year-old man with serious leg injuries.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.

About 1.40pm yesterday (Friday 5 January 2024), a 19-year-old man was arrested at Granville Police Station.

It will be alleged that both men became involved in an altercation whilst driving along the Cumberland Highway.

Police will further allege that a short time later the older man was walking on the footpath when the other man drove onto the kerb colliding with the man and then drove from the scene.

The Guildford West man was charged with five offences including:

  • dangerous driving occ GBH – drive manner dangerous
  • fail to stop and assist after vehicle impact causing GBH
  • not give particulars to police
  • not give particulars to injured person
  • cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court later today (Saturday 6 January 2024).
