Police charge man over sexual touching of young girl in Elderslie

A man will appear in court today after being charged by detectives investigating the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl earlier this year.

Earlier this week, officers from Camden Police Area Command received a report at 14-year-old girl was approached from behind and sexually touched by a man known to her when she was in her front yard.

The matter was referred to detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad and an investigation was commenced.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 68-year-old man at a home at Elderslie about 6.20pm yesterday (Thursday 15 August 2019).

He was taken to Narellan Police Station and charged with three counts of intentionally sexually touch child aged between 10 and 16 and enter dwelling with intent (not steal/destroy/damage).

The man has been refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court today (Friday 16 August 2019).

The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad is comprised of detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.
