Police charge man over wounding in Launceston

An 18 year old Newnham man has been charged over an incident in Launceston last night in which a 17 year old youth received non life threatening injuries.

A 17 year old youth and the 18 year old Newnham man – both known to each other – were involved in an incident at private residence off George Town Road, Newnham, about 7pm last night. The alleged victim received a laceration to his face and hand. He was conveyed to the Launceston General Hospital where he is currently in a stable condition and undergoing treatment for his injuries which are considered non-life threatening.

The 18 year old man was arrested, formally charged and detained to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court at 11.30am today charged with wounding.
