Police charge man with attempted murder after stabbing in North Parramatta

A man will face court today charged with attempted murder following an investigation into the stabbing of another man in Sydney’s west earlier this month.

Just before 7pm on Tuesday 7 December 2021, emergency services were called to a unit complex on Isabella Street, North Parramatta, after a 24-year-old man was found with several stab wounds to his chest, arms and legs.

He was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition, where he later underwent surgery. He has since been released.

Officers attached to Parramatta Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was forensically examined by specialist police and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following extensive inquiries by local police, with assistance from North West Metropolitan Police Transport Command and Fairfield City Police Area Command, a 28-year-old Granville man was arrested at Cabramatta Railway Station about 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 21 December 2021).

He was taken to Fairfield Police Station before being taken to Bankstown Hospital for assessment.

The man was released from hospital and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with cause wounding to person with intent to murder and warrant offences.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today (Wednesday 22 December 2021).
