A man will face court tomorrow charged with murder following an alleged stabbing at Hamilton South last month.
About 3.30pm on Saturday 11 July 2026, emergency services were called to Hassall Street following reports of a stabbing.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and found a 42-year-old man suffering from a stab wound.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital where he died a short time later.
Strike Force Favalo was established by Newcastle Detectives, assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
About 7.15am today (Tuesday 4 August 2026), Strike Force Detectives – assisted by Northern Region OSG, the Dog Unit and Police Rescue – attended an address in Hamilton South.
A 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station where he was charged with murder.
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 2 tomorrow (Wednesday 5 August 2026).
