Police charge teen after Springvale carjacking

Police have charged a teenage boy after an alleged carjacking in Springvale yesterday.

Officers from the Southern Metro Region Crime Team arrested the 17-year-old boy and a 24-year-old man in Dandenong North about 10.45am this morning.

The Berwick teen was interviewed and charged with 15 offences including aggravated carjacking, theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving and commit indicatable offence whilst on bail.

He will appear before a children’s court this afternoon.

The charges follow an incident on Lightwood Road about 5.30pm on Wednesday, 16 March.

It’s alleged the teen assaulted a 70-year-old woman who was seated inside her Honda Jazz, before stealing the vehicle.

The boy was also charged for an attempted aggravated burglary in Kooyong about 6am on Tuesday, 15 March.

The 24-year-old Narre Warren South man was charged with theft of motor vehicle after he was allegedly caught travelling in the stolen Honda Jazz this morning.

He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 5 August.
