Southern Metro Regional Crime Team detectives have charged two teenage boys following an aggravated burglary in Brighton early this morning.
It is believed offenders allegedly forced entry to a house on Cochrane Street and stole car keys and a handbag just after 1.30am.
The offenders then allegedly stole two cars from the residence and fled the scene.
Police later intercepted a vehicle in a car park near the intersection of St Kilda and Alma roads in St Kilda about 2.20am.
Officers approached the car and the driver allegedly drove at one of the officers, knocking him to the ground.
The other officer drew their firearm and fired at the car as it drove off.
Fortunately, neither officer was seriously injured.
A teenage boy was arrested in Hallam just before 8am.
The 14-year-old Hallam boy has been charged with attempted aggravated burglary, aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, aggravated intentional exposure to police officer to risk by driving, reckless conduct endanger serious injury, unlicensed driving, and other charges.
Police have also arrested a second teenage boy in relation to the alleged aggravated burglary in Brighton and subsequent alleged burglaries in Hallam, Berwick, Doveton and Keysborough.
A 13-year-old Hallam boy has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, theft, burglary, criminal damage, and other charges.
Both boys will face a bail justice tonight.
The investigation remains ongoing.
