Business Financial Data: June 2026 Quarter

Business financial data provides sales, purchases, salaries and wages, and operating profit estimates for most market industries in New Zealand, and information on stocks for selected industries. This collection uses a combination of survey, tax, and other administrative data.

In actual terms, the volume of finished goods stocks for total manufacturing rose 2.6 percent ($234 million) in the June 2026 quarter compared with the June 2025 quarter.

In actual terms, total manufacturing purchases rose $2.5 billion (10 percent), and salaries and wages rose $204 million (4.0 percent) compared with the June 2025 quarter.

Wholesale trade

When adjusted for seasonal effects, the total value of wholesale trade sales rose 6.4 percent ($2.7 billion) in the June 2026 quarter, following a 3.8 percent ($1.6 billion) rise in the March 2026 quarter.

Within this, the value of basic material wholesaling industry sales rose 18 percent ($2.2 billion) in the June 2026 quarter, following a 6.0 percent ($683 million) rise in the March 2026 quarter. The latest rise was influenced by prices for petroleum products such as diesel, petrol, aviation fuel, and lubricants .

In addition to petroleum products, basic material wholesaling includes a range of other activities such as agricultural, metal, and timber products wholesaling.
