Police charge two after armed robberies in Burwood

Two teenagers will appear in court today after being charged with two armed robberies in Burwood overnight.

About 10.45pm on Monday 22 April 2019, a 27-year-old man was about to get into his vehicle, which was located in Park Street, when he was approached by two males.

The males engaged the man in conversation before they produced knives, threatened the man and demanded money.

The man handed over cash and a mobile phone to the males who fled with the proceeds towards Burwood Park. The man drove to Burwood Police Station and reported the matter.

A short time later a 32-year-old man was walking along Milton Lane when he was approached by two males who engaged him in conversation, before threatening him with knives.

The males demanded the man’s back pack, containing a wallet, cash, cards and a mobile phone.

Both males ran towards Parramatta Road with the back pack and its contents.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command arrived a short time later and arrested an 18-year-old man, allegedly locating a stolen phone and two knives.

A short time later a 17-year-old male was arrested, allegedly in possession of a back pack.

Both males were later charged at Burwood Police Station with armed robbery (x 2) and refused bail.

The man will appear at Burwood Local Court today (Tuesday 23 April 2019) while the juvenile will appear at a Children’s Court later today.
