Police charge two after copper theft at Lake Macquarie

Two men have been charged in relation to an alleged copper theft at Lake Macquarie yesterday.

About 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 2 August 2023), police attended a property on Wangi Road, Myuna Bay, following reports copper cables was being stolen.

At the scene, police located two men allegedly removing copper cables and preparing to load the cables into a vehicle.

The men, aged 38 and 49, were arrested at the scene before being taken to Toronto Police Station.

Both men were charged with larceny, enter inclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence.

They were granted conditional bail to appear before Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 29 August 2023.
