Police charge two after criminal damage in Parkville

Melbourne Divisional Response Unit officers have charged two teenagers after alleged criminal damage at a cemetery in Parkville on 5 July.

The pair allegedly crashed through the gates of a cemetery with an excavator on College Crescent about 7pm.

Both teens then allegedly fled on foot.

Due to their heritage listing, the damage to the gates is estimated to be in excess of $130,000.

A 14-year-old from PRINCES HILL has been charged with:

• 2 x theft of a motor vehicle

• criminal damage

• commit an indictable offence while on bail.

A 16-year-old from CARLTON has been charged with:

• theft of a motor vehicle

• criminal damage

• 2 x commit an indictable offence while on bail

• possess an imitation firearm

Both teenagers will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
