Police charge two after house party in Arncliffe

Two people have been charged and ten infringements issued as inquiries continue into a house party in Sydney’s south overnight.

About 12.45am (Saturday 30 October 2021), police responded to a home on Sommerville Street, Arncliffe, following reports of a large gathering.

On arrival, officers attached to St George Police Area Command were met by more than 100 people.

An 18-year-old woman was found suffering leg injuries after jumping out a window. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to St George Hospital.

With the assistance of officers from Campsie, Bankstown, Cumberland and Sutherland Police Area Commands along with the Dog Unit, the party was shut down and the crowd dispersed.

A 20-year-old man was arrested after allegedly spitting on an officer. He was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with assault officer in execution of duty, and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9.

The Auburn man was granted conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 7 December 2021.

A 19-year-old man who fled the home by jumping the back fence, was pursued by officers through neighbouring backyards and arrested. He will be issued a court attendance notice for trespassing and not comply with noticed direction re s 7/8/9 to face court a later date.

An additional ten people have been issued infringements for breaches of the Public Health Order as inquiries continue to identify further breaches.

Inquiries revealed the home had been rented via an online platform and was returned to the owner.
