Police charge two after improvised firearm seized in Springvale

Police have charged two men after they were arrested during an alleged attempted burglary and an improvised firearm was seized in Springvale.

Officers responded to reports of two men suspiciously loitering outside a construction site on Davy Court about 7.20pm on Sunday, 17 July.

When police arrived they discovered a man inside the premises who attempted to run away but was swiftly arrested.

A search located a second man attempting to hide inside the construction site.

Police searched the men and located an improvised firearm and a quantity of drugs, and a number of tools.

A 38-year-old Springvale man has been charged with burglary, handle stolen goods, handle proceeds of crime, going equipped to steal and trespass.

He has been remanded to face Dandenong Magistrates’ Court today.

A second 38-year-old Springvale man remains in custody and is expected to be charged with burglary and firearms related offences.
