Police charge two men after Glenroy non-fatal shooting

Armed Crime Squad detectives have charged two men following a non-fatal shooting in Glenroy over the weekend.

A 22-year-old Meadow Heights man was arrested yesterday (Monday, 31 July) and subsequently charged with 18 offences, including intentionally cause serious injury (gross violence), intentionally case injury, recklessly cause injury, common law assault, affray and firearms offences.

He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 22 October.

A 23-year-old Meadow Heights man was arrested this morning and subsequently charged with 18 offences, including intentionally cause serious injury (gross violence), intentionally case injury, recklessly cause injury, common law assault, affray and firearms offences.

He will appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court today.

The charges follow an incident early Sunday morning where police were called to an address on View Street in Glenroy just after 12.30am following reports of gunshots and an affray between a group of men.

Investigators will allege two men inside the premises were shot at, and they subsequently armed themselves with knives and confronted the intruders.

The two men aged in their 20s from Meadow Heights were taken to hospital to be treated for stab wounds.

A 45-year-old Glenroy man and a 43-year-old Meadow Heights man, who were inside the property, were treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Police believe the incident was targeted and the investigation remains ongoing.
