Police Charge Two Over Aggravated Robbery At Dubbo

Two men will face court charged following an investigation into an aggravated robbery in Dubbo yesterday.

About 6pm (Wednesday 18 September 2024), emergency services were called to Wingewarra Street, Dubbo, following reports a woman had been assaulted and robbed.

Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and were told a woman had been assaulted by a man who demanded her car keys before driving off in her car.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the 67-year-old woman at the scene with a broken hip and head injuries, before she was taken to Dubbo Hospital in a stable condition, where she remains.

Police also received reports that a man had assaulted a 12-year-old girl on Macquarie Street about 5pm the same day.

About 8pm, police were patrolling Milson Street, Warren, when they attempted to stop the stolen car.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns.

About 9pm, police located the car in the rear yard of Dubbo Street, Warren, and established a crime scene.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with five offences.

  • Common assault
  • Aggravated robbery and inflict actual bodily harm cause wounding/grievous bodily harm
  • Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, and
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

A 24-year-old man was also arrested at the home for unrelated outstanding arrest warrants for assault, property, traffic, domestic violence.

Both men have been refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 19 September 2024).
