Police charge woman over Katoomba crash

A woman will face court today, charged over a crash at Katoomba earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to The Great Western Highway, Katoomba, about 6am on Monday 22nd January 2024, following reports a car had collided with a truck.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the female driver of the car, aged 31, and the female passenger, aged 7, for burns and other injuries.

The child was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital, while the female driver was taken to Westmead Hospital.

The truck driver wasn’t injured in the crash.

Police established a crime scene with officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit investigating the crash.

Following inquiries, police attended Westmead Hospital yesterday (Wednesday 24 January 2024) and arrested the 31-year-old woman and charged her with attempt to murder by means other than in ss27-29 (DV)-SI.

She was refused bail and will appear via a bedside hearing in Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 25 January 2024).
