Police hold concerns for welfare of Barkly region

Northern Territory Police hold concerns for a woman who was hitchhiking along the Stuart Highway south of Tennant Creek earlier today.

Police have released CCTV image stills of a woman, believed to be an American national aged in her 50s, who was last seen 5km from the Kinjurra Road south of Ali Curung after receiving a lift from a member of the public travelling north bound.

Initial investigations reveal the woman, who’s goes by the name of Kay, had been in Ti Tree on Thursday looking for work, with plans to travel to Tennant Creek.

The woman is described as being a American of Caucasian appearance with shoulder length brown hair and wearing a blue singlet and jeans and carrying a backpack.

Police hold concerns for the welfare of the woman as she was left by the side of the road after exhibiting unusual behaviour.

Anyone who has information as to the woman’s whereabouts or which may assist in police locating the woman, is urged to call police on 131 444 immediately.
