Monash Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for dashcam and witnesses following an incident where a man sustained serious injuries in Chadstone yesterday morning.
Police responded to reports of a man suffering from burns in Chadstone on Thursday 17 September about 6.50am.
Officers located the man inside a white Ford Ranger on the Monash Freeway, near the Warrigal Road exit, with significant burns.
The 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A second occupant of the car, a 37-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene for an unrelated matter and has since been released.
At this stage it appears the woman was driving and the man was a rear seat passenger. The circumstances surrounding what has occurred remains unclear.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time who may have captured the Ford Ranger on dashcam or witnessed the incident to come forward.
The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
