Police are appealing for public assistance as they investigate an assault at a soccer game in Doveton earlier this year.
An 18-year-old man, who was on the field at a reserve on Power Road, was assaulted by three male offenders about 8pm on Thursday, 23 April.
It is understood there was an earlier physical altercation between two teenagers, before the victim intervened and split the parties up.
Officers were told one of the offenders called two other males, who arrived a short time later armed with a metal pole and a baseball bat.
The trio then assaulted the 18-year-old Clyde North man.
He sustained serious injuries including facial fractures which required hospital treatment.
The offenders, who are not believed to be known to the victim, fled the scene before police arrived.
A 17-year-old boy from the Narre Warren area was arrested on 29 May as part of the investigation.
He was released pending further enquiries.
Police believe two male offenders remain outstanding at this stage.
The first male is perceived to be Middle Eastern, described as being in his late teens/early 20s and of medium build with short black hair and a goatee.
The second male is also perceived to be Middle Eastern, described as being in his late teens/early 20s and of medium build. He had long black curly hair, a black moustache and a goatee.
Police believe people at the game witnessed this incident, and some may have mobile phone or dashcam footage.
