Police are investigating following a crash that occurred in Broadmeadows last night.
Officers from Broadmeadows where patrolling when they observed a black Volkswagen travelling on Gerbert Street about 9.15pm.
The man sped off before police could intercept the vehicle.
It is alleged the man attempted to turn right onto Smiley Avenue when he lost control of the car and crashed through the front fence and into a house on Gerbert Street.
The vehicle hit the front of the home and ruptured the gas meter, causing considerable damage to the property.
Luckily, the occupants were not home at the time of the crash.
The driver was interviewed at the scene and is expected to be charged on summons with a number of traffic related offences.
