Police investigate death of man in Highton

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 35-year-old man found deceased in the Barwon River in Highton earlier this month.

The Highton man was found in the river under the Geoff Thom Bridge on the Geelong Ring Road about midday on Monday 16 January.

Investigators believe the man may have been seen on the Ring Road or in the residential area sometime between 4am and midday on the day he was found.

He was wearing a long sleeved tan coloured jumper, blue shorts and black shoes whilst in the residential area.

It is believed while he was on the Ring Road or in the vicinity of the bridge, he was wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, blue shorts and white socks without shoes

Investigators will prepare a report for the coroner and are keen to speak to anyone in the area with CCTV that may capture the man’s movements prior to the incident.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
