Police investigate graffiti incident on M80

Detectives from Banyule Crime Investigation are investigating after the M80 was damaged by graffiti vandals.

Investigators have been told over $200,000 damage has been caused to barriers on the freeway by offenders tagging the infrastructure.

Police believe a number of people may be involved, including one offender who uses the tag ‘MWHAK’ and another using the tag ‘SWOE’

The offending is believed to have occurred on 13 specific areas along the entire length of the freeway from Greensborough to Tullamarine Airport and occurred between February and March 2021.

Investigators wish to speak to anyone who may have witnessed anyone damaging the M80 or who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
