Police investigate sexual assault at Parap

Northern Territory Police are advising the public of an alleged sexual assault that occurred in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 1 April 2020.

At around 12:20am, a 38-year-old female was at home in her first floor Parap apartment when an unknown male unlawfully entered the residence via an unlocked balcony door.

The male forced the victim into her bedroom where he assaulted her before fleeing the apartment.

The victim suffered lacerations and fractures to her face, a broken arm and cuts and bruises to her body. She remains in Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

Detectives from the Sex Crimes Unit are actively seeking the whereabouts of the suspect and are urging him to hand himself into police.

In light of this attack, police remind the public to be observant in locking doors and windows even when they are at home, and to report suspicious or concerning behaviour to police on 131 444 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
