Police investigating suspected murder visit Pinkerton, South Australia

Following Monday’s announcement relating to the presumed murder of Adelaide man Michael Jeffrey Purse, Major Crime investigators will today conduct a search at Pinkerton.

A green Daewoo Lanos Hatch, believed to have been carrying Mr. Purse’s body, became bogged in the Mid North location early on 7 February. Detectives have now identified that location as a result of a call to Crime Stoppers following recent publicity.

Detectives expect that today’s search will be the first of several, to be conducted in various locations across the Adelaide Plains in coming weeks.

The search today will focus on a property belonging to a relative of a suspect, and police will be looking for the body of Mr Purse and other evidence. Officer in Charge of Major Crime, Detective Superintendent Des Bray, said Police emphasise there is no evidence to suggest the occupants are involved in any way in death of Mr Purse.

“However, It is abundantly clear that several people know what has happened to Michael Jeffrey Purse,” said Supt Bray.

“I would urge those parties to come forward sooner rather than later.”

It is believed that Mr Purse, 32, was murdered at Unit 17, 415 Churchill Road, having spent the evening of 6 February in company with three men and two women.

Mr Purse was involved in the illicit drug trade, as well as fraud offending, with associates in Adelaide’s western and southern suburbs.

Police encourage anyone with information, especially those in the Adelaide Plains community, to please call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or report online at www.sa.crimestoppers.com.au. You can remain anonymous.
